Cumming HapKiDo = Confidence Booster

. . .

The truth about lack-of-confidence is that it has no age limit; it is a feeling that both children and adults relate to. At Choe’s HapKiDo in Cumming, we understand that the reasons for lack of confidence are endless, but they are reasonable: the feeling of inadequacy compared to others; a history of negative feedback; the fear of being wrong; the idea of set-limitations. Our martial art program is developed to show students how to grow in confidence.

The Outcomes of Confidence:

SELF-ESTEEM BOOST. From day to day training, HapKiDo instructors make sure a student knows when something is done right. Through hard work and a positive attitude, students experience the feeling of being correct. And after one technique is conquered, students find energy to keep at it.

REALIZED POTENTIAL. The best part of watching progression in the training studio is when the student realizes it. It is like suddenly, a light bulb flashes and he/she witnesses the growth. Maybe an increase in strength is noticed, or a kick is flawless. But regardless, seeing the changes influences the want to do more.

NEW FOUND INDEPENDENCE. The instructors train students every step of the way until they believe he/she is ready for the next belt test. The belt tests allow students to perform independently. And after a new belt is achieved, it is understood that it was earned.

Although confidence can result in cockiness and false-pride, consistent training results in the students developing confidence in a healthy way. From being corrected on technique and etiquette, students learn that perfection comes from listening to advice and persevering to try again and again.

HapKiDo Martial Arts Classes in Cumming - More than just another sport activity

Martial Arts Classes in Cumming
Martial Arts Classes in Cumming
My name is Justina, I’ve been working at HapKiDo Martial Arts in Cumming for a while now and I’ve also been working at another place called Lil’ Kickers. Lil’ Kickers is a great place, where I teach little kids how to play soccer.  However, there are some differences from HapKiDo Martial Arts and Lil’ Kickers that I never noticed until I started at HapKiDo Martial Arts.

The major difference is the kids’ behavior.  The children at the HapKiDo Martial Arts in Cumming show respect and etiquette toward the instructors.  They listen almost instantly when you give them some sort of directions.  At HapKiDo we strive for respect and work hard to keep the kids entertained and also learning valuable lessons at the same time.

At Lil’ Kickers the kids behavior is very different.  It takes a lot of effort to get the kids to listen to you.  They don’t respond right away and it takes several attempts to get their attention.  However, working at HapKiDo has helped me to keep the kids at Lil’ Kickers focused but it still can be challenging.

I am not saying Lil’ Kickers is a bad place, because it isn’t.  It’s great for kids to learn soccer and have lots of fun.  However, between these two places the kids are different because of the environment they are in.  At HapKiDo we strive to help your children behave the best they can.  At Lil’ Kickers we don’t focus on that at all.  HapKiDo grasps the big picture, while Lil’ Kickers focuses on that moment. Any child can be taught discipline but a good environment helps.

It has been great seeing the two different types of kids.  It has been great learning experience for me and working at both places has taught me tons.  However, there will always be a difference that sets HapKiDo kids Martial Arts in Cumming apart from the rest of the world.  HapKiDo changes the world, one black belt at a time!

Martial Arts Cumming GA - Choe's HapKiDo Karate 30041 Junior Instructor Speech

Below is a speech given by one of our awesome Junior Instructors and Martial Arts Black Belt.  Tyhelps teach Martial Arts Classes in Cumming GA, and is a young leader at the Kids Martial Arts School. This young man prepared then gave this speech about giving 100% effort all the time to his peers at a Choe's HapKiDo Karate Belt Test held at our Suwanee Karate School. Part of being a Junior Instructor is learning to be more confident and being able to speak in front of an audience, and Ty demonstrated excellent confidence and effort in his awesome martial arts speech.

"Hello my name is Ty Overholt.

I am a 1st degree Black Belt.

Imagine feeling trapped in an unsatisfying existence.  Wasting time doing things you really don't want to do.  Being afraid to express your uniqueness.  Maybe your life was just like mine was.

I started Hapkido 3 1/2yrs ago.  I have learned respect, perseverance, and how to be unique.  Instructor LoPresti has taught me how to change my life by teaching me that it is important to try my best in everything I do.  These are the traits of a black belt and once I learned them they changed my life.

I am a better brother, student and person as a result of learning this one very important trait.

Try your best every single time -

It is important.  It shows respect for my senior Instructor - Instructor LoPresti. Trying my best helps my Dojang be a better Dojang.  I try my best because trying my best pays respect to Grandmaster Choe.

I want my Dojang to be the best and I want to be a role model to the lower belts who are watching everything I do.  Trying my best has changed my life because it has made me a better student both in the Dojang and at regular school.  Here it has made its way into everything I do. Because I have learned this --  I have been successful faster in other areas of my life.  My kicks are faster, my moves better.  I have also become better conditioned and I am able to run farther and faster then I could when I first started Hapkido.

Trying my best I have started to discover who I truly am as a person.  This is the path to a extraordinary life.  I love doing Hapkido and doing Hapkido makes me feel alive.  When I am doing 20 pushups and I am only on number 15 and think I can't do anymore.  Do I quit?  No I keep going and guess what?  I do the 20.  The feeling I get when I complete the 20 is awesome.

I achieve goals I have set thru hard work and perseverance. I have learned that as long as I try 100% in everything I do I can achieve anything in my life that I want to do.

My Life truly has no limits.

For teaching me that I thank my Instructor - Instructor LoPresti

One Black Belt at a Time - Choe's HapKiDo Karate Cumming Ga Success Story

One Black Belt at a Time

By: Justina Condensa

karate classes cumming gaOne day my mom asked me if I would ever consider working at a Martial Arts school. At first, I wasn’t so sure. I didn’t know anything about karate other than what I had seen in the movies. However, the moment I walked into the HapKiDo School it changed my life. It might sound cheesy, but that’s really what happened.

When I started working there and taking classes, I realized something very important. It wasn’t all about beating up your opponent or learning to kick super hard. HapKiDo had a much stronger meaning behind it. HapKiDo has taught me many things that I’ll keep with me for the rest of my life. It taught me confidence, courage and strength. It also taught me to look at my life in an entirely different perspective.

I have learned from HapKiDo that my life is one big journey and I have just started it. I’ll never be able to fully put into words what my HapKiDo experience has done for me, but I do know that HapKiDo is an amazing thing. Maybe it’s the way the kids smile at you. All I know is I’ve never experienced anything like it until now. When I walked through that door my life changed for the better and yours will too. We build strong personalities one day at a time. I feel personally HapKiDo changes the world one black belt at a time and I am proud to be a part of that.

Being a Role Model - Speech by Junior Instructor Aiden at Choe's HapKiDo Martial Arts in Suwanee

Below is a speech given by one of our awesome Junior Instructors. Mr Aiden helps teach Martial Arts Classes in Cumming GA, and is a young leader at the Kids Martial Arts School. This young man prepared then gave this speech about being a good role model to his peers at a Choe's HapKiDo Karate Belt Test held at our Suwanee Karate School. Part of being a Junior Instructor is learning to be more confident and being able to speak in front of an audience, and Aiden demonstrated excellent confidence and maturity.

"Today I want to talk about role models.  A role model could be anyone who inspires someone to do something. Being a role model has responsibilities to do what they are told to do. Many people could be a role model like being an actor or teacher, an Instructor or, like me, a Junior Instructor. It is important to have role models in our world because without role models everyone would have their opinions on something and would do what they like.

A teacher would be a role model because they inspire children to teach and learn to teach.  A good teacher also encourages students to learn.  Students become excited about learning when the teacher is a good role model.

An actor also inspires others because of their great acting.  People who are thinking about going into acting as a career might be motivated when they see a really good performance.

Junior Instructors and Instructors are role models because they teach classes and want others to be like them. To be a good role model, we must get to class on time.  We also must be prepared with our sparring gear.  We need to be in good physical shape.  We also need to study our terms and kicks.  I try to do these things to lead by example.

So a good role model is someone who encourages us to do our very best!  Thanks!"

The importance of Gratitude, inside the Martial Arts School and Everywhere! Choe's HapKiDo Karate in Cumming GA

This month at our Martial Arts Belt Test in Big Greek Georgia we had a Junior Martial Arts Instructor give a speech to the other kids karate students about the importance of gratitude.  She did a fantastic job talking about the many things we have to be grateful for inside the Martial Arts School, at home and within ourselves.  We are very proud of this future HapKiDo Karate Black Belt, she is truly living up to the Martial Arts way of life.

Gratitude speech
Hi! My name is Neha! I am a junior instructor here at Choe’s HapKiDo! Today, I would like to talk about gratitude. Gratitude means to be thankful for something, showing your love or thankfulness towards someone! There are so many ways to be thankful in this world!
Here in the Dojang, you can be thankful for your instructor for teaching you new things every day, your friends for being with you and helping you through hard times, and your parents for driving you and supporting you as you come to class!
Karate Classes Big Creek GA
At school, you can be grateful for all your teachers for helping you learn and be the best as possible and your buddies for helping you as you work harder and harder!
Finally, at home you can be grateful for your parents giving you shelter, clothing and other things to make your home be a better place, your siblings for playing with you and making you laugh! But most of all, be thankful for yourself, you always give 100% in what you do and never give up!
I’m sure there are so many other great things in this world you can be thankful for in your own way!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Martial Arts Classes for all ages - Big Creek GA

Karate Classes Big Creek GA
HapKiDo Martial Arts in Big Creek GA

Residents living in the area of Big Creek Georgia are enjoying the many benefits of training at a local HapKiDo Karate School.

As someone who has been taking martial arts classes for almost my whole life (since I was 6 years old) I can personally attest to the wonderful ways that being a Black Belt Martial Artist has improved my life, and given me many advantages while growing up.  There are many positive aspects that can be gained by practicing martial arts, ranging from physical, mental and emotional benefits.  The great thing about karate classes is that they encompass all aspects of growth into one activity, its not like a gym where you only receive physical training, or even like a school where all the benefit is mental, it is everything all in one place!!  Now that I live by the Big Creek area in South Forsyth Georgia, I wanted to reach out and share my experiences with anyone else who lives in Big Creek and the surrounding areas.

As parents, if you can enroll your child into a Big Creek Kids Karate program at an early age, they will learn how to focus, be respectful and have healthy goals that will give them many advantages on their journey to success!  Beginning Big Creek martial arts classes will empower children to not be affected by peer pressure, and give them the confidence to stand up to bullies.  In addition to these wonderful benefits, martial arts classes in Big Creek teach students to be respectful and caring toward their fellow man.  This feeling will create young adults and teens that show compassion and are willing to help other people.  They will go out of their way to contribute to our society and serve the community.

"Improving our Country and Society, one Martial Arts Black Belt at a time!"

Kids Martial Arts - Big Creek
Kids Karate - Big Creek Georgia
As I became an adult the benefits that I received from taking karate classes became even more apparent.  All the Martial Arts lessons I had learned over the years helped my do better in college, and in the workplace outside of school.  I found that the discipline and focus that I had developed in Kids Karate, then continued to learn with Adult Martial Arts Classes, aided me in being successful in any area of life that I applied these skills to.  As an adult taking Martial Arts Classes, I still appreciate the awesome focus and discipline training I received in Karate, but now the fitness aspect is more appealing.  The classes are fast paced and exciting, I do not even realize that it is a workout...until I feel the muscles I worked the next day :) It keeps me lean and strong, and gives me the physical energy to give 100 percent in everything I do, not just in Karate!

It is because of all the personal benefits that Martial Arts Classes have provided to me that I recommend Karate Classes to everyone I meet living in Big Creek, or anywhere for that matter!   I strongly believe that the Big Creek community can benefit from learning what HapKiDo Karate has to offer, I mean imagine a society that was more respectful, caring, and focused on making the world a better place!  With this goal in mind I would like to personally invite anyone who is interested in trying a class to come check it out!  You and your family wont regret it, and together we can make our community of Big Creek a better place!

Karate Classes in Cumming GA teach the importance of Quality Friendships

Martial Arts Junior Instructor gives a speech about Home Alone Safety

Below is a speech given by one of our awesome Junior Instructors. Miss Paige is a Junior Instructor, a young leader at the Kids Martial Arts School in Cumming GA. In an effort to become future leaders the Junior Instructors prepare and give speeches to educate the other kids karate students.  Paige gave a speech about the importance of friendship.

Friendship

by:

Paige

"Today I would like to talk to you about friendship. Our HapKiDo definition of friendship is one attached to another by affection.

What that means is that you care about each other.  You would not want anything to ever happen to them. If you get in a fight with your friend does that mean you or your friend do not care about each other anymore? No, it just means that you and your friend do not agree on something.

If you and your friend do not agree on something, try to compromise and meet in the middle. For example, if you want to play tag and your friend wants to play soccer. What would you do? You could either play tag for 10 minutes and soccer for 10 minutes, or you come up with a new game that combines both games. For instance, you could play ball tag but you cannot use your hands.

See friendship is all about compromise. Work hard to be a good friend."

Awesome job Paige!!!

Martial Arts Junior Instructor gives a speech about Home Alone Safety

Below is a speech given by one of our awesome Junior Instructors. Mr James is a Junior Instructor, a young leader at the Kids Martial Arts School in Cumming GA. This young man prepared then gave this speech about how to stay safe when home alone to his peers at a Choe's HapKiDo Karate Belt Test held at our Suwanee Karate School. Part of being a Junior Instructor is learning to be more confident and being able to speak in front of an audience, and James demonstrated excellent confidence and maturity :)

Home Alone Safety

by:

James

"Today I am going to talk to you about how to be safe when you're home alone.  I am going to tell you 3 ways to be safe.  Those ways are keeping your door locked and don't answer it, do not answer the phone, and have an emergency phone number to call if something goes wrong.  These ways are very important to being safe at home alone.

The first way I mentioned was to keep your door locked and do not answer it.  this is a big part of keeping yourself safe because some crazy guy could see that an adult didn't answer the door but you did and he could be big trouble.  Another reason is that if this guy sees you and you walk away; he would know that you're scared and if you didn't have your doors locked he could just walk right in and he would know you were alone because most time times you'll answer it and not lock it back.

My second way to keep yourself safe is to not answer the phone.  If you do pick up the phone and it is someone you don't know and they ask if your parents are home, if you say no then they know they can come to your house.  The way to stay safe is just to say your parents are unable to come to the phone right now.  But the best way to avoid this is to not answer the phone in the first place.

My last way to keep safe is to have an emergency phone in case an emergency happens.  If an emergency arises you will need some one to contact.  Like if there is a fire, of course I hope that never happens, but if it does could you imagine running through a flaming house looking for a phone, it might end badly.  So, just remember to keep a phone and a phone number with you so you can get some help.

These ways to keep you safe will help a lot if you're home alone.  The tips can help protect you from getting harmed.  Just to remind you if you forgot, they are keeping your door locked and don't answser it, do not answer the phone, and have an emergancey phone number to call if something goes wrong.  I hope these tips will help keep you safe when you're home alone."

Awesome job James!!!

Does martial arts training like Karate really help children with focus and discipline?

Suwanee Karate
Kids Karate Johns Creek
Does martial arts training like Kids Karate really help children in Johns Creek and Suwanee with focus and discipline?

To truly answer this question you have to understand the time commitment from regular martial arts training and how much of an influence that has on someone’s overall attitude. There is no doubt that martial arts such as kids Karate are great for helping children in Johns Creek and Suwanee learn about the concepts of focus, respect and discipline but the parents also have a large role to play in the equation. You have to think that the overall time that the children spend at kids Karate each week is probably about 2-3 hours and it takes consistent effort at home, in school, and in the martial arts dojo to properly instill discipline.

With that being said, martial arts training in Suwanee such as kids Karate can definitely assist the development of discipline in a few different ways. The first way that martial arts teaches children is by structuring the activity of learning with respect and a set of rules that are key to progressing in their Martial Arts training. Once they understand the concept of discipline, with regular martial arts practice, such as weekly kids Karate classes, they get the practical experience in the disciplined environment. This repetition of discipline and progression of focus allows them to have at least a few hours a week of practice in developing these skills.

All in all, Johns Creek martial arts such as kids Karate help children in in Suwanee with the development of focus and discipline but these have to be further reinforced at home and in the classroom. Also you have to keep in mind that not all martial arts schools in the Suwanee and Johns Creek area are geared towards teaching traditional Martial Arts or the values of respect and discipline. There are plenty of great facilities for children to get physical exercise or compete in sport martial arts but for the best overall experience it is important to find a Karate dojo that can train their minds as well as their bodies.

The best Johns Creek Karate schools have a balanced approach that advertise traditional martial arts such as HapKiDo Karate, or state that they instill values such as respect and discipline.  Finding a dojo that have a good reputation and that can interact with the children in a way that is respectful and mentors all of the natural positives, is the key to finding the best martial arts training facilities for children. If you are interested in learning more or want to try a great kids Karate or adult Karate class you can go to one of our great locations.  Check out this link to see our awesome facilities! www.iLoveMartialArtsGeorgia.com

Johns Creek Karate Teaches Respect - Choe's HapKiDo Karate Suwanee

Martial Arts Teacher Respect: Code of Conduct Tips

When you are just starting to learn martial arts in Suwanee GA the formality and bowing might be a bit difficult to get accustomed to, but learning about the reasons may help it make more sense. Most of the martial arts, such as Karate or HapKiDo, originated in the east and are therefore riddled with eastern culture of respect. Once you have been training in martial arts for a period of time these actions may become second nature and the respect for the master and your peers will increase accordingly. For the beginning though, especially in kids Karate, it is important just to follow along. Here are a few tips on the key areas to help you understand the reasons behind the formal respect in Karate and other martial arts.

Addressing the Karate Instructor Correctly

One of the first things that you will learn is how to address your teacher or Instructor correctly, which is all about making sure that you respect the amount of work that they have put into becoming as good as they are to teach you. On the mats it is important to only refer to them as Instructor, Sir or Ma'am out of respect and to show them that you accept them as your teacher. They are not your peers on the mat, and showing them this respect will help you to gain theirs as well.

Showing Respect

The respect you learn in Karate shouldn’t stop with your speech, and demonstrating respect when you are practicing martial arts with your body language and physical interactions is the next step. It is important that you keep the time on the mat reserved for training and refrain from physically engaging with your Instructor outside of demonstrations. A pat on the back is fine off the mat, but once on the mat you are encouraged to stand up straight and be attentive so that you can learn and show respect while training martial arts. Pay attention when your Karate Instructor is demonstrating a new technique. Overall you are there to learn from your Instructors and showing respect in the way you hold yourself and how much attention you give them will go a long way.

Entering and leaving a class

For overall respect of your Instructor’s time in Karate or any other martial arts training, it is important to arrive on time or even early for your class. Learning this as children in Kids Karate, is a great way to foster the respect of other people’s time. Make sure that you bow to your Instructor whenever they enter the mat and try to stay for the whole Karate class; if at all possible.

Cyber Bullying Speech by Junior Instructor at Choe's HapKiDo Karate inCumming GA

Here is a speech given by one of our Junior Instructors. Edmond is a Junior Instructor, a leader at the Kids Martial Arts School in Cumming GA. He gave this speech about Cyber Bullying to his peers at a Choe's HapKiDo Karate Belt Test. Part of being a Junior Instructor is learning to be more confident and being able to speak in front of an audience, and this young man did an awesome job doing just that!!

Cyber Bullying in Suwanee GA

"Cyber Bullying is kids making fun of other kids or making up rumors about other kids on electronic devices like cell phones, computers and tablets.

You may not know that you're cyber bullying someone but you might be.  When you're face to face you can tell when you've hurt someone's feelings because they might be crying or get mad.  But you don't know you're doing those things when you're cyber bulling.  We all know not to be a bully but you may not know that a text message or an email could do the same thing.

We all know that if someone bullies you should go tell a teacher or your mom and dad.  But cyber bulling can be more confusing because you dont know if someone is joking or not.  It's easier to tell when someone is hitting you or yelling at you that you're being bullied, but it's harder when you get a text message or email that is mean.  If you are not sure then you should talk to your teacher or mom and dad.

For example, raise your hand if you think this is bulling --- I run up to you and do a Jump Spinning Heel and take all your money?  Of course that is bullying

Another example except raise your hand if you think this is cyber bullying.  I send you a text message that says "Hey, your stink!"

I could be trying to be mean or trying to be funny.  To make sure it is clear you can type that you are joking.

To make sure you're not a cyber bully you should read your text messages and emails carefuly before you send them. You've got to make sure that nobody could misunderstand you.  If you're trying to be funny make sure to tell that person that you're joking.  If you hurt someone's feelings by accident make sure you appologize.

Cyber Bullying happens a lot.  I hope this information helps you not to be cyber bullied or become a cyber bully."

Suwanee Karate for Focus and Concentration

Suwanee Martial Arts
Karate for Focus
Concentration and Focus through Martial Arts - Suwanee Karate

With this hectic world that we live in everyone could use a boost of concentration and focus. If you or your children have difficulties concentrating or you would just like to be able to have focus at work, a martial arts or karate class may be exactly what you need. Most people in Cumming don’t realize the true support that practicing a martial arts discipline in Cumming, Georgia, can do for their concentration and exactly how benefit it is for their daily life. For children, it can help them focus better in the classroom, and with regular practice they will be able to better deal with conflicts. Trying a karate class at a martial arts studio in Suwanee, Georgia could give you and your children immense benefit.

How do martial arts such as karate teach concentration and focus?

When you or your children are studying and practicing karate, before all of the punching and kicking the instructor will teach control, mindfulness, and respect. By starting with this and then focusing all of your mental powers on learning the movements and being aware of what they can do to the other people will, you will be forced to concentrate on the present and improve this skill. The physical activity and exhaustion that is part of the regular martial arts training will help to regulate stress and other hormones that are affecting your children’s mental clarity and promote focus. It’s a fun way to get exercise and improve you and your children’s mental concentration.

Improvements in interactions with others and decision making

Another great benefit to regularly practicing martial arts such as karate is that it will increase your children’s confidence and better prepare them to make more level headed decisions under pressure. When people are more calm and confident the interactions with other individuals is freer and less stressful. Learning to focus on the moment with the improved mental concentration will allow you and your children a richer experience when engaging with other people. What would have been a stressful interaction with a bully is dealt with in a non-confrontational way where your children would have the ability to defend themselves if they were in danger.

Learning martial arts such as karate is a great way to get in shape, improve concentration, and boost self-confidence for everyone, but especially kids. If you are around the Suwanne or Cummings, Georgia area there are a couple of great options for your to try a class and see what it’s all about. Cutting through the noise and being able to focus is only going to get more challenging, but regular martial arts training can give you the tools to tackle most of  life’s challenges.

Fire safety

Hello. I’m Siddharth. Today I am going to talk about fire safety.

Fires are loud and hot, and the smoke makes it very dark.
Fires hurt and destroy things in your home. You and your family
can help make your home safer.

This is important because we want to keep each other safe. Bad things could happen when we don’t know how to prevent the bad things or what to do when it happens. In this case the bad thing is a fire. Here are a few ways to keep you and your family safe from a fire.

Never keep anything over a lamp like clothes or a blanket
because the heat could cause them to catch fire.Never
heat up metal especially tinfoil because tinfoil is also a
paper and could catch fire and metal heated up could
cause other things to get hot.Don’t stand too close to the
fireplace because you could get burned or your clothes
could catch fire.Don’t play with electrical cords or electrical
sockets because they could shock you which would heat up
your body and your clothes which could catch fire. Those
are some ways to keep safe from fire.

Now if your house were to catch fire here
are ways to keep safe.It is important to get out fast.Don’t take
any time to gather belongings. You should make an escape plan
before a fire starts any way with signals you can make so your
family knows where you are when this might happen. Also you
can know if fire is in a room b feeling the door.If the door is hot
then there is fire in that room. And always stay down in a fire
because smoke rises in a fire and the safest air is low air.
those are some ways to stay safe in a fire.
