The importance of Gratitude, inside the Martial Arts School and Everywhere! Choe's HapKiDo Karate in Cumming GA

This month at our Martial Arts Belt Test in Big Greek Georgia we had a Junior Martial Arts Instructor give a speech to the other kids karate students about the importance of gratitude.  She did a fantastic job talking about the many things we have to be grateful for inside the Martial Arts School, at home and within ourselves.  We are very proud of this future HapKiDo Karate Black Belt, she is truly living up to the Martial Arts way of life.

Gratitude speech
Hi! My name is Neha! I am a junior instructor here at Choe’s HapKiDo! Today, I would like to talk about gratitude. Gratitude means to be thankful for something, showing your love or thankfulness towards someone! There are so many ways to be thankful in this world!
Here in the Dojang, you can be thankful for your instructor for teaching you new things every day, your friends for being with you and helping you through hard times, and your parents for driving you and supporting you as you come to class!

At school, you can be grateful for all your teachers for helping you learn and be the best as possible and your buddies for helping you as you work harder and harder!
Finally, at home you can be grateful for your parents giving you shelter, clothing and other things to make your home be a better place, your siblings for playing with you and making you laugh! But most of all, be thankful for yourself, you always give 100% in what you do and never give up!
I’m sure there are so many other great things in this world you can be thankful for in your own way!

Martial Arts Classes for all ages - Big Creek GA

Karate Classes Big Creek GA
HapKiDo Martial Arts in Big Creek GA

Residents living in the area of Big Creek Georgia are enjoying the many benefits of training at a local HapKiDo Karate School.

As someone who has been taking martial arts classes for almost my whole life (since I was 6 years old) I can personally attest to the wonderful ways that being a Black Belt Martial Artist has improved my life, and given me many advantages while growing up.  There are many positive aspects that can be gained by practicing martial arts, ranging from physical, mental and emotional benefits.  The great thing about karate classes is that they encompass all aspects of growth into one activity, its not like a gym where you only receive physical training, or even like a school where all the benefit is mental, it is everything all in one place!!  Now that I live by the Big Creek area in South Forsyth Georgia, I wanted to reach out and share my experiences with anyone else who lives in Big Creek and the surrounding areas.

As parents, if you can enroll your child into a Big Creek Kids Karate program at an early age, they will learn how to focus, be respectful and have healthy goals that will give them many advantages on their journey to success!  Beginning Big Creek martial arts classes will empower children to not be affected by peer pressure, and give them the confidence to stand up to bullies.  In addition to these wonderful benefits, martial arts classes in Big Creek teach students to be respectful and caring toward their fellow man.  This feeling will create young adults and teens that show compassion and are willing to help other people.  They will go out of their way to contribute to our society and serve the community.

"Improving our Country and Society, one Martial Arts Black Belt at a time!"

Kids Martial Arts - Big Creek

As I became an adult the benefits that I received from taking karate classes became even more apparent.  All the Martial Arts lessons I had learned over the years helped my do better in college, and in the workplace outside of school.  I found that the discipline and focus that I had developed in Kids Karate, then continued to learn with Adult Martial Arts Classes, aided me in being successful in any area of life that I applied these skills to.  As an adult taking Martial Arts Classes, I still appreciate the awesome focus and discipline training I received in Karate, but now the fitness aspect is more appealing.  The classes are fast paced and exciting, I do not even realize that it is a workout...until I feel the muscles I worked the next day :) It keeps me lean and strong, and gives me the physical energy to give 100 percent in everything I do, not just in Karate!

It is because of all the personal benefits that Martial Arts Classes have provided to me that I recommend Karate Classes to everyone I meet living in Big Creek, or anywhere for that matter!   I strongly believe that the Big Creek community can benefit from learning what HapKiDo Karate has to offer, I mean imagine a society that was more respectful, caring, and focused on making the world a better place!  With this goal in mind I would like to personally invite anyone who is interested in trying a class to come check it out!  You and your family wont regret it, and together we can make our community of Big Creek a better place!

Setting Healthy Goals with Fitness Kickboxing Classes in Suwanee GA

“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.” - Tony Robbins

Goal setting is an important aspect of all areas of life. In order to accomplish anything you have to figure out where you want to go, then make a plan for how to get there. This is no less true when it comes to fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. The American Council on Exercise recommends setting goals the SMART way:

SPECIFIC: The goals must specifically state what is to be accomplished. They must be easily understood and should not be ambiguous or subject to interpretation. For example, rather than stating you would like to improve your fitness level, set a specific goal to be able to run a mile in 12 minutes.

MEASURABLE: The goals must be measurable so that there is no doubt about whether you achieved them. Measurable goals also allow you to evaluate your progress. Goals can be measured objectively or subjectively (i.e., how you feel and look), or both. For example, you could measure your percent body fat and body weight, but also monitor how your pants fit.

ATTAINABLE: The goals must be attainable—not too difficult or too easy. Easy goals do not motivate, and overly difficult ones may frustrate you and lead to a perception of failure.

RELEVANT: The goals must be relevant or pertinent to your particular interests, needs and abilities. For example, when preparing for a 5K walk, running quarter-mile sprints would not be the best approach.

TIME-BOUND: The goals must be time-bound by specific deadlines for completion. Timelines can be both short-term and long-term and should help you stay focused and on track.

Make sure you choose goals that are realistic. It is much more healthy, and much more easily maintained, to set a goal to lose 1-2 pounds per week than 10. Choosing a goal that is unhealthy or unreasonable leads to burnout and injury. Ultimately, you want to establish habits that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Measurable and attainable goals keep discouragement at bay. Tangibly assessing how many pounds you have lost, either by stepping on the scale or by seeing how your clothes fit differently, keeps you  encouraged and wanting to continue. Find the sweet spot between goals that are too easy or too hard so you don’t get lazy or frustrated. You may need to set some short-term goals along the way to your ultimate goal.

A good mix of goals that are either process oriented or product oriented will keep you motivated. An example of a process goal would be, “I am going to go to kickboxing three times this week.” A product goal would be increasing the amount of weight you can bench press or losing an inch off your thighs.

Find some activity or workout routine that you enjoy and grab someone to enjoy it with you. If you enjoy it you will tend to stick with it. Be prepared to work through the times when it is just plain hard, though. Establishing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle takes diligence and self-discipline, but goal-setting can keep you on track.
