Below is a speech given by one of our awesome Junior Instructors. Mr James is a Junior Instructor, a young leader at the Kids Martial Arts School in Cumming GA. This young man prepared then gave this speech about how to stay safe when home alone to his peers at a Choe's HapKiDo Karate Belt Test held at our Suwanee Karate School. Part of being a Junior Instructor is learning to be more confident and being able to speak in front of an audience, and James demonstrated excellent confidence and maturity :)

Home Alone Safety

by:

James

"Today I am going to talk to you about how to be safe when you're home alone.  I am going to tell you 3 ways to be safe.  Those ways are keeping your door locked and don't answer it, do not answer the phone, and have an emergency phone number to call if something goes wrong.  These ways are very important to being safe at home alone.

The first way I mentioned was to keep your door locked and do not answer it.  this is a big part of keeping yourself safe because some crazy guy could see that an adult didn't answer the door but you did and he could be big trouble.  Another reason is that if this guy sees you and you walk away; he would know that you're scared and if you didn't have your doors locked he could just walk right in and he would know you were alone because most time times you'll answer it and not lock it back.

My second way to keep yourself safe is to not answer the phone.  If you do pick up the phone and it is someone you don't know and they ask if your parents are home, if you say no then they know they can come to your house.  The way to stay safe is just to say your parents are unable to come to the phone right now.  But the best way to avoid this is to not answer the phone in the first place.

My last way to keep safe is to have an emergency phone in case an emergency happens.  If an emergency arises you will need some one to contact.  Like if there is a fire, of course I hope that never happens, but if it does could you imagine running through a flaming house looking for a phone, it might end badly.  So, just remember to keep a phone and a phone number with you so you can get some help.

These ways to keep you safe will help a lot if you're home alone.  The tips can help protect you from getting harmed.  Just to remind you if you forgot, they are keeping your door locked and don't answser it, do not answer the phone, and have an emergancey phone number to call if something goes wrong.  I hope these tips will help keep you safe when you're home alone."

Awesome job James!!!

HYGIENE
By

"Hygiene is important so you won’t get sick.  Three areas I want to cover are teeth, body, and hands.
Brushing your teeth at least two times a day will clean your teeth.  Make sure you do a circular motion at the gum line, and you won’t have cavities or bad breath.
If you sweat daily, taking a quick shower will help especially after a Hapkido workout.  Make sure you use soap and shampoo.
Washing your hands after using the toilet will prevent sickness and people calling you gross.
If you follow these three things, you won’t get sick and you’ll smell good, and people will want to be your friend!"

Does martial arts training like Karate really help children with focus and discipline?

Suwanee Karate
Kids Karate Johns Creek
Does martial arts training like Kids Karate really help children in Johns Creek and Suwanee with focus and discipline?

To truly answer this question you have to understand the time commitment from regular martial arts training and how much of an influence that has on someone’s overall attitude. There is no doubt that martial arts such as kids Karate are great for helping children in Johns Creek and Suwanee learn about the concepts of focus, respect and discipline but the parents also have a large role to play in the equation. You have to think that the overall time that the children spend at kids Karate each week is probably about 2-3 hours and it takes consistent effort at home, in school, and in the martial arts dojo to properly instill discipline.

With that being said, martial arts training in Suwanee such as kids Karate can definitely assist the development of discipline in a few different ways. The first way that martial arts teaches children is by structuring the activity of learning with respect and a set of rules that are key to progressing in their Martial Arts training. Once they understand the concept of discipline, with regular martial arts practice, such as weekly kids Karate classes, they get the practical experience in the disciplined environment. This repetition of discipline and progression of focus allows them to have at least a few hours a week of practice in developing these skills.

All in all, Johns Creek martial arts such as kids Karate help children in in Suwanee with the development of focus and discipline but these have to be further reinforced at home and in the classroom. Also you have to keep in mind that not all martial arts schools in the Suwanee and Johns Creek area are geared towards teaching traditional Martial Arts or the values of respect and discipline. There are plenty of great facilities for children to get physical exercise or compete in sport martial arts but for the best overall experience it is important to find a Karate dojo that can train their minds as well as their bodies.

The best Johns Creek Karate schools have a balanced approach that advertise traditional martial arts such as HapKiDo Karate, or state that they instill values such as respect and discipline.  Finding a dojo that have a good reputation and that can interact with the children in a way that is respectful and mentors all of the natural positives, is the key to finding the best martial arts training facilities for children. If you are interested in learning more or want to try a great kids Karate or adult Karate class you can go to one of our great locations.  Check out this link to see our awesome facilities! www.iLoveMartialArtsGeorgia.com

Johns Creek Karate Teaches Respect - Choe's HapKiDo Karate Suwanee

Martial Arts Teacher Respect: Code of Conduct Tips

When you are just starting to learn martial arts in Suwanee GA the formality and bowing might be a bit difficult to get accustomed to, but learning about the reasons may help it make more sense. Most of the martial arts, such as Karate or HapKiDo, originated in the east and are therefore riddled with eastern culture of respect. Once you have been training in martial arts for a period of time these actions may become second nature and the respect for the master and your peers will increase accordingly. For the beginning though, especially in kids Karate, it is important just to follow along. Here are a few tips on the key areas to help you understand the reasons behind the formal respect in Karate and other martial arts.

Addressing the Karate Instructor Correctly

One of the first things that you will learn is how to address your teacher or Instructor correctly, which is all about making sure that you respect the amount of work that they have put into becoming as good as they are to teach you. On the mats it is important to only refer to them as Instructor, Sir or Ma'am out of respect and to show them that you accept them as your teacher. They are not your peers on the mat, and showing them this respect will help you to gain theirs as well.

Showing Respect

The respect you learn in Karate shouldn’t stop with your speech, and demonstrating respect when you are practicing martial arts with your body language and physical interactions is the next step. It is important that you keep the time on the mat reserved for training and refrain from physically engaging with your Instructor outside of demonstrations. A pat on the back is fine off the mat, but once on the mat you are encouraged to stand up straight and be attentive so that you can learn and show respect while training martial arts. Pay attention when your Karate Instructor is demonstrating a new technique. Overall you are there to learn from your Instructors and showing respect in the way you hold yourself and how much attention you give them will go a long way.

Entering and leaving a class

For overall respect of your Instructor’s time in Karate or any other martial arts training, it is important to arrive on time or even early for your class. Learning this as children in Kids Karate, is a great way to foster the respect of other people’s time. Make sure that you bow to your Instructor whenever they enter the mat and try to stay for the whole Karate class; if at all possible.

Cyber Bullying Speech by Junior Instructor at Choe's HapKiDo Karate inCumming GA

Here is a speech given by one of our Junior Instructors. Edmond is a Junior Instructor, a leader at the Kids Martial Arts School in Cumming GA. He gave this speech about Cyber Bullying to his peers at a Choe's HapKiDo Karate Belt Test. Part of being a Junior Instructor is learning to be more confident and being able to speak in front of an audience, and this young man did an awesome job doing just that!!

Cyber Bullying in Suwanee GA

"Cyber Bullying is kids making fun of other kids or making up rumors about other kids on electronic devices like cell phones, computers and tablets.

You may not know that you're cyber bullying someone but you might be.  When you're face to face you can tell when you've hurt someone's feelings because they might be crying or get mad.  But you don't know you're doing those things when you're cyber bulling.  We all know not to be a bully but you may not know that a text message or an email could do the same thing.

We all know that if someone bullies you should go tell a teacher or your mom and dad.  But cyber bulling can be more confusing because you dont know if someone is joking or not.  It's easier to tell when someone is hitting you or yelling at you that you're being bullied, but it's harder when you get a text message or email that is mean.  If you are not sure then you should talk to your teacher or mom and dad.

For example, raise your hand if you think this is bulling --- I run up to you and do a Jump Spinning Heel and take all your money?  Of course that is bullying

Another example except raise your hand if you think this is cyber bullying.  I send you a text message that says "Hey, your stink!"

I could be trying to be mean or trying to be funny.  To make sure it is clear you can type that you are joking.

To make sure you're not a cyber bully you should read your text messages and emails carefuly before you send them. You've got to make sure that nobody could misunderstand you.  If you're trying to be funny make sure to tell that person that you're joking.  If you hurt someone's feelings by accident make sure you appologize.

Cyber Bullying happens a lot.  I hope this information helps you not to be cyber bullied or become a cyber bully."
